I created the ANEMONES series of acrylic paintings in early 2023, shortly after my 94th birthday. Although I used a stencil to create the flowers, I painted some parts of the anemones free-hand to express my vision. I have always admired the beauty of anemones and still remember them growing freely down a barren mountainside in my native Israel. What always struck me about anemones was the bright red color of their petals contrasted with their black-and-white center. In this series of paintings, I rendered the anemones in various primary and secondary colors but maintained their striking black-and-white center.
